1Chronicles 26, HIS Gatekeepers!

1Ch 26:1, CONCERNING THE DIVISIONS OF THE GATEKEEPERS:

We all have a part in GOD’s plan. If we are seen or in the background, we all are part of HIS Body each given different gifts!

Eph 3:7, of which I BECAME A MINISTER ACCORDING TO THE GIFT OF THE GRACE OF GOD GIVEN TO ME BY THE EFFECTIVE WORKING OF HIS POWER. 

Psa 84:10, For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I WOULD RATHER BE A DOORKEEPER IN THE HOUSE OF MY GOD THAN DWELL IN THE TENTS OF WICKEDNESS. 

1Ch 26:7-9, … WERE ABLE MEN. All these were of the sons of Obed-Edom, they and their sons and their brethren, ABLE MEN WITH STRENGTH FOR THE WORK: sixty-two of Obed-Edom. And Meshelemiah had sons and brethren, EIGHTEEN ABLE MEN.

1Co 12:4-6, There are diversities of gifts, BUT THE SAME SPIRIT. There are differences of ministries, BUT THE SAME LORD. And there are diversities of activities, BUT IT IS THE SAME GOD WHO WORKS ALL IN ALL.

HE is always giving abilities to men for the work HE has for us on this earth! When the LORD calls on a man for the work of HIS ministry; HE also calls on mighty men of valor to support the LORD’s anointed! 

1Ch 12:8, …MIGHTY MEN OF VALOR, MEN TRAINED FOR BATTLE, WHO COULD HANDLE SHIELD AND SPEAR, WHOSE FACES WERE LIKE THE FACES OF LIONS, AND WERE AS SWIFT AS GAZELLES ON THE MOUNTAINS: 

It’s not about your strength’s or abilities; it’s about HIS mission for you! HE WILL EQUIP YOU FOR THE BATTLE AHEAD OF YOU!

1Chronicles 25, Worship HIM in Spirit!

1Ch 25:1, Moreover David and the captains of the army separated for the service some of the sons of Asaph, of Heman, and of Jeduthun, WHO SHOULD PROPHESY WITH HARPS, STRINGED INSTRUMENTS, AND CYMBALS…

It’s not just playing musical instruments, but it’s a gift of GOD!

1Ch 25: 5, … THE SONS OF HEMAN THE KING’S SEER IN THE WORDS OF GOD, TO EXALT HIS HORN. FOR GOD GAVE HEMAN FOURTEEN SONS AND THREE DAUGHTERS.

The sons of Heman were dedicated to worshiping the LORD.  God bless Heman with children to praise HIM in HIS Holy Temple!

Psa 127:3, Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb is a reward. 

Joh 4:23-24, But the hour is coming, and now is, WHEN THE TRUE WORSHIPERS WILL WORSHIP THE FATHER IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH; FOR THE FATHER IS SEEKING SUCH TO WORSHIP HIM. GOD IS SPIRIT, AND THOSE WHO WORSHIP HIM MUST WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH.” 

It’s an honor to worship the LORD, but so many worship HIM in the flesh; which is just singing and has nothing to do with worship! Worship HIM knowing that HE is there, Worship HIM for HE is worthy to be praised! HE inhabits the worship of HIS people!

Psa 22:3, But You are holy, Enthroned in the praises of Israel. 

1Chronicles 24, HIS WAY not yours!

1Ch 24:1-2, Now these are the divisions of the sons of Aaron. The sons of Aaron were Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. AND NADAB AND ABIHU DIED BEFORE THEIR FATHER, and had no children; therefore Eleazar and Ithamar ministered as priests.

Num 26:61, AND NADAB AND ABIHU DIED WHEN THEY OFFERED PROFANE FIRE BEFORE THE LORD. 

It is not known why Nadab and Abihu offered in a way not commanded by GOD, but it was wrong. They went before the LORD in their own way not HIS way!

Pro 14:12, There is a way THAT SEEMS RIGHT TO A MAN, But its end is the way of death. 

Lev 10:3, And Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the LORD spoke, saying: ‘BY THOSE WHO COME NEAR ME I MUST BE REGARDED AS HOLY; AND BEFORE ALL THE PEOPLE I MUST BE GLORIFIED.’ ” So Aaron held his peace. 

Isa 6:3, And one cried to another and said: “HOLY, HOLY, HOLY IS THE LORD OF HOSTS; THE WHOLE EARTH IS FULL OF HIS GLORY!”

We are wretched and no matter what we do we fall short of the glory of GOD! When we come in HIS presence we must understand that we are sinners saved by grace! No matter who your father is or position he holds; GOD SHOWS NO PARTIALITY TO NO MAN!

Psa 46:10, Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! 

1Chronicles 23, Praising the LORD!

1Ch 23:5, four thousand were gatekeepers, and FOUR THOUSAND PRAISED THE LORD WITH MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS, “which I made,” said David, “for giving praise.” 

Four Thousand praised the LORD; imagine that worship service! Wow!

Psa 150:6, Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD! 

David prepared the building material, Gold, Silver, even musical instruments! 1Ki 10:12

1Ch 23:30-31, to stand EVERY MORNING TO THANK AND PRAISE THE LORD, and LIKEWISE AT EVENING; AND AT EVERY PRESENTATION OF A BURNT OFFERING TO THE LORD ON THE SABBATHS AND ON THE NEW MOONS AND ON THE SET FEASTS…

Psa 92:1-3, … It is good to give thanks to the LORD, And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, And Your faithfulness every night, On an instrument of ten strings, On the lute, And on the harp, With harmonious sound.

The LORD is worthy to be praised, morning, noon and night! For he paid a great price for each and every single one of us!

1Pe 3:18, FOR CHRIST ALSO SUFFERED ONCE FOR SINS, THE JUST FOR THE UNJUST, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,  OUR SIN WAS GREAT, YET HIS LOVE FOR US WAS GREATER! PRAISE HIM HIS PEOPLE! PRAISE HIM

1Chronicles 22, Preparing the way!

1Ch 22:2, So David commanded to gather the ALIENS WHO WERE IN THE LAND OF ISRAEL; AND HE APPOINTED MASONS TO CUT HEWN STONES TO BUILD THE HOUSE OF GOD. 

The building of the house of God was the work of JEW and GENTILE. For we were grafted in!

Rom 11:17, And if some of the branches were broken off, AND YOU, BEING A WILD OLIVE TREE, WERE GRAFTED IN AMONG THEM, AND WITH THEM BECAME A PARTAKER OF THE ROOT AND FATNESS OF THE OLIVE TREE, 

1Ch 22:7-8, And David said to Solomon: “My son, as for me, IT WAS IN MY MIND TO BUILD A HOUSE TO THE NAME OF THE LORD MY GOD; but the word of the LORD came to me, saying, ‘YOU HAVE SHED MUCH BLOOD AND HAVE MADE GREAT WARS; YOU SHALL NOT BUILD A HOUSE FOR MY NAME…

David wanted to build the LORD’s house yet couldn’t! So he prepared the materials needed!

1Ch 22:14, Indeed I have taken much trouble to prepare for the house of the LORD…

David did all he could to make sure the house of the LORD is built. YET, the foundation of the true house of GOD was laid by the work of JESUS ON THE CROSS OF CALVARY!

Eph 2:20-21, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF BEING THE CHIEF CORNERSTONE, IN WHOM THE WHOLE BUILDING, BEING FITTED TOGETHER, GROWS INTO A HOLY TEMPLE IN THE LORD,

JESUS LAID THE PATH THAT WE NEED TO FOLLOW; FOR HE IS THE WAY THE TRUTH AND THE LIGHT. FOR JEW OR GENTILE!

1Chronicles 21, Trusting in HIM!

1Ch 21:1, Now Satan stood up against Israel, and moved David to number Israel. 

The LORD was angry at Israel, so HE sent satan to influence David to number Israel

2Sa 24:1!

THE LORD DOESN’T WANT DAVID TO TRUST IN NUMBERS BUT IN THE LORD! AS MANY TODAY TRUST IN THEIR BANK ACCOUNTS, THEIR JOBS RATHER THAN THE LORD! ALL CAN BE EASILY TAKEN AWAY!

1Ch 21:7-8, AND GOD WAS DISPLEASED WITH THIS THING; THEREFORE HE STRUCK ISRAEL. SO DAVID SAID TO GOD, “I HAVE SINNED GREATLY, BECAUSE I HAVE DONE THIS THING; but now, I pray, take away the iniquity of Your servant, for I have done very foolishly.

The LORD offers three things!

  • Three years of famine
  • Three months of defeats from enemies!
  • Three days of plaque in the land!

1Ch 21:13-14, And David said to Gad, “I am in great distress. Please let me fall into the hand of the LORD, for His mercies are very great; but do not let me fall into the hand of man.” SO THE LORD SENT A PLAGUE UPON ISRAEL, AND SEVENTY THOUSAND MEN OF ISRAEL FELL. 

David knew that he would have more mercy from the LORD than from the hand of his enemies!

Isa 55:7, Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the LORD, AND HE WILL HAVE MERCY ON HIM; AND TO OUR GOD, FOR HE WILL ABUNDANTLY PARDON.

Put your trust in the LORD rather than man or money, and Confess your sins to HIM for HE is faithful and Just to forgive you!  1John 1:9

1Chronicles 20, Confess your sins!

1Ch 20:1, It happened in the spring of the year, at the time KINGS GO OUT TO BATTLE, that Joab led out the armed forces and ravaged the country of the people of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. BUT DAVID STAYED AT JERUSALEM….

David should have been with his men, yet because he stayed home and had idle time; he lusted over a woman he saw bathing and ended with her husband (Uriah) being murdered!

Gen 4:7, … SIN LIES AT THE DOOR. AND ITS DESIRE IS FOR YOU, BUT YOU SHOULD RULE OVER IT.” 

Mat 26:41, WATCH AND PRAY, LEST YOU ENTER INTO TEMPTATION. THE SPIRIT INDEED IS WILLING, BUT THE FLESH IS WEAK.” 

David wrote Psalm 51 in which he confessed his sin against God!

Psa 51:3-4, For I acknowledge my transgressions, And my sin is always before me. Against You, You only, have I sinned, And done this evil in Your sight—That You may be found just when You speak, And blameless when You judge.

We all fall short of HIS glory because of our sin nature. Rom 3:23

1Ch 20:2, Then David took their king’s crown from his head, and found it to weigh a talent of gold, and there were precious stones in it. AND IT WAS SET ON DAVID’S HEAD…

1Jn 1:9, IF WE CONFESS OUR SINS, HE IS FAITHFUL AND JUST TO FORGIVE US OUR SINS AND TO CLEANSE US FROM ALL UNRIGHTEOUSNESS. 

WE’RE NOT PERFECT AND HE KNOWS THAT WE ARE BUT DUST; CONFESS YOUR SINS AND GET RIGHT WITH THE LORD!

1Chronicles 19, HATED ME FIRST!

1Ch 19:4, Therefore Hanun took David’s servants, SHAVED THEM, AND CUT OFF THEIR GARMENTS IN THE MIDDLE, AT THEIR BUTTOCKS, AND SENT THEM AWAY.

Because of the death of Nahash, the king of Ammon, David sent ambassadors to comfort his son! YET, HIS SON HANUN HUMILIATED THEM! IN THAT CULTURE A MAN’S BEARD WAS HIS DIGNITY AND A SHAVED MAN WAS A SIGN OF A SLAVE!

1Ch 19:5, … BECAUSE THE MEN WERE GREATLY ASHAMED. And the king said, “WAIT AT JERICHO UNTIL YOUR BEARDS HAVE GROWN, AND THEN RETURN.” 

To insult these ambassadors was to insult the king; remember we are HIS Ambassadors!

Joh 15:18, “If the world hates you, you know that IT HATED ME BEFORE IT HATED YOU. 

Isa 50:6, I GAVE MY BACK TO THOSE WHO STRUCK ME, AND MY CHEEKS TO THOSE WHO PLUCKED OUT THE BEARD; I DID NOT HIDE MY FACE FROM SHAME AND SPITTING. 

THEY HATED JESUS SO MUCH THAT THEY HUMILIATED THE KING OF GLORY AND RIPPED OFF HIS BEARD! CRUCIFIED HIM NAKED ON THE CROSS AFTER HE WAS BEATEN AND SPAT UPON! FOR US!

Dan 9:26, … MESSIAH SHALL BE CUT OFF, BUT NOT FOR HIMSELF…

1Ch 19:13, Be of good courage, and let us be strong for our people and for the cities of our God. And may the LORD do what is good in His sight.”  As Christians we will have trouble in the world, because we represent the KING of kings! If they hated HIM, don’t be surprised if you are hated also! BE OF GOOD COURAGE!

1Chronicles 18, David’s Strength!

1Ch 18:4, David took from him one thousand chariots, seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand foot soldiers. ALSO DAVID HAMSTRUNG ALL THE CHARIOT HORSES, EXCEPT THAT HE SPARED ENOUGH OF THEM FOR ONE HUNDRED CHARIOTS. 

Pro 21:31, The horse is prepared for the day of battle, BUT DELIVERANCE IS OF THE LORD. 

Psa 33:16-17, No king is saved by the multitude of an army; A mighty man is not delivered by great strength. A HORSE IS A VAIN HOPE FOR SAFETY; Neither shall it deliver any by its great strength.

Horses were always used in battle, yet David didn’t rely on them, but relied on GOD Himself! Where do you put your trust in? Your job, your money, this economy? BUILD ON THE ROCK WHICH IS A FIRM FOUNDATION!

1Ch 18:5-6, When the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David killed twenty-two thousand of the Syrians. Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became David’s servants, and brought tribute. SO THE LORD PRESERVED DAVID WHEREVER HE WENT.

David honored GOD in all his ways and the LORD blessed him and preserved him from all his enemies! David knew that it’s not because of his strength, but because of the LORD’s! David wrote the following Psalm!

Psa 28:7-8, THE LORD IS MY STRENGTH and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him. THE LORD IS THEIR STRENGTH, And He is the saving refuge of His anointed.

God was David’s strength and also our strength! Trust in the LORD!

1Chronicles 17, Promotion is of HIM!

1Ch 17:7, Now therefore, thus shall you say to My servant David, ‘Thus says the LORD of hosts: “I TOOK YOU FROM THE SHEEPFOLD, FROM FOLLOWING THE SHEEP, TO BE RULER OVER MY PEOPLE ISRAEL.

God took this simple sheepherder and turned him into a king, leading the sheep (Israel) of God!  God can change any man who is willing to follow the LORD! Promotion comes from HIM

Amo 7:14-15, Then Amos answered, and said to Amaziah: “I was no prophet, Nor was I a son of a prophet, But I was a sheepbreeder And a tender of sycamore fruit. Then the LORD took me as I followed the flock, And the LORD said to me, ‘Go, prophesy to My people Israel.’

God promoted Joseph in Egypt, He promoted Daniel in Babylon and HE can promote you! All of these men were devoted to the LORD!

1Ch 17:11-12, And it shall be, when your days are fulfilled, when you must go to be with your fathers, that I will set up your seed after you, who will be of your sons; and I will establish his kingdom. HE SHALL BUILD ME A HOUSE, AND I WILL ESTABLISH HIS THRONE FOREVER.

David wanted to build a house of the LORD, yet the LORD was going to build a dynasty for David! Verse 12 is partially fulfilled by his son Solomon, yet Fully fulfilled in HIS SON, JESUS! WHO IS BUILDING A HOUSE FOR GOD!

1Pe 2:5, YOU ALSO, AS LIVING STONES, ARE BEING BUILT UP A SPIRITUAL HOUSE, … THROUGH JESUS CHRIST. 

JESUS IS THE FOUNDATION OF OUR FAITH WHICH IS A SOLID ROCK TO BUILD ON! LEAN ON HIM AND SEEK HIM! HE IS ABLE TO USE YOU MIGHTILY IF YOU ALLOW HIM!
